Forbes, 2022
73% of Fortune 1000 companies now have a CDO compared to only 12% in 2012, with the role now responsible for far more than just data analytics [TechTarget, 2023]. Today’s CDO is now expected to drive organisation-wide transformation on both a technological and cultural level.
Yet despite becoming one of the most influential roles in business, 52% of data leaders say that they do not have the necessary resources to achieve their goals and 62% report that their biggest challenge is changing organisational culture [MIT, 2023]. Without the right backing, the CDO is destined to fall short of the mark.
And given the rapid advancements in data-based tech such as ChatGPT and Dall-E, all eyes are on the CDO to unlock value and take their organisation to the next frontier.
So, how will you secure the support of the boardroom and your colleagues to avoid being hamstrung, and capitalise on the biggest opportunity of the decade?
