2021 : Another Unprecedented Year?

Private virtual meeting on 14th May 2020, 11-1pm

In partnership with SAS, the power to know

“A lot of executives think a big part of their job is making the tough calls; relying on the experience, industry knowledge, and judgment that they’ve built up. While I value those things, I value them a lot less than I used to. Machine learning will change the way executives do their jobs”

Andrew McAfee, cofounder of
the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy

WHY IS THIS COMPLEX & EVOLVING TOPIC IMPORTANT IN 2020…

Not all predictions come true, but we’d take a bold prediction over a vague one any day. The great thing about a bold prediction is it creates discussion. Not maybe or possibly or broadly or I think, but “I believe x will happen”. Until artificial intelligence (AI) can predict the future for us, the best source of insight we have is the opinions of our peers and trusted thought leaders. That’s why the Boardroom’s final session of the year, Predictions, is the most popular meeting in our calendar.

With 2021 approaching at a fearsome pace, we’re taking a film-inspired look at the year ahead (and beyond). If you think 2020 has been a roller coaster year, standby for the next 12-months. We’re not finished yet:

  • Will Gen Z be the catalyst for the workplace of the future?
  • What ethical questions will be asked of us by artificial intelligence (AI)?
  • Will Trump’s divisive style of politics see him re-elected next year?
  • Will we have a new resident at Number 10 and what is the outlook for Brexit?

In Kubrick’s seminal film, 2001: A Space Odyssey, he explored many of the issues that face us today including the true objectives of those in power and the ethical questions surrounding AI. The main characters’ world (a space craft) is controlled by HAL, a sentient computer. HAL augments the astronauts’ lives in fantastic ways and also limits their control, trusted by the hero’s superiors more than they trust him – with the true objective of their mission.

Join us for the last Boardroom meeting of the year and enjoy an evening of unique insights, exceptional peer-networking and stunning views of the city at night.

WHAT IS THE BOARDROOM EXPERIENCE?

All of our meetings are collaborative and informative, designed to give you actionable ideas you can take back to your business the next day. This virtual meeting is no different. Prior to the virtual meeting taking place, each attendee is interviewed to understand their interests and perspective. Those who register early will also contribute towards the Think Different report, which will be published prior to the virtual meeting and will be the focus of the discussion on 14th May.
